Position Summary:

A primary care nurse practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who provides nursing and medical services to individuals, families and groups. A nurse practitioner diagnoses and manages acute episodic and chronic illnesses while emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. Services may include ordering, conducting, supervising and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, and prescription of pharmacologic agents and non pharmacologic therapies.

Full time equivalent (FTE) Adult Medicine Advanced Practice Clinical (APC) PCP position will entail 32 clinic hours per week. The expectation for the provider is to have 2.5 patients scheduled per hour. In addition, there are expectation independent of the clinic hour calculation and FTE status. These include regular attendance at certain departmental meetings, other special departmental activities (e.g., work groups and committees), cell availability at least 8AM-5PM Monday through Friday, daily electronic in-basket and email monitoring, and responsibility for clinical and administrative follow up for a panel of primary care patients, including participation in the after-hours coverage rotation.
