Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.&nbsp;Job Summary&nbsp;-&nbsp;This position is responsible for the dimensional integrity of an assigned portfolio of investment cast parts.&nbsp;Responsibility includes the design and acquisition of tooling, fixtures, gauges, and dimensional inspection plans necessary to produce parts that consistently meet or exceed our customers’ requirements and expectations.&nbsp;Also, this position will identify and lead continuous improvement activities to reduce cost, improve scrap and rework yields, and improve the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process.Essential Functions<ul> <li>Develops and improves processes of critical and complex aerospace components.</li> <li>Conceives, evaluates and implements problem solving activities, cost reduction initiatives and part/process improvement activities.</li></ul>Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:<ul> <li>Investigates and analyzes root cause of external customer escapes. Develops and implements corrective action plans accordingly.</li> <li>Initiates, prepares and validates dimensional qualification packages to meet customer requirements.</li> <li>Conducts meetings and provides technical data to meet customer needs.</li> <li>Promptly responds to manufacturing issues and addresses root cause.</li> <li>Evaluates defects and dimensional integrity of components and determines appropriate actions.</li> <li>Defines and implements control plans and FMEA per customer requirements.</li> <li>Collects, analyzes and prepares statistical data.</li> <li>Conducts design review meetings with customers to ensure production capability on new components.</li> <li>Develops production processes that are efficient and within cost estimates.</li> <li>Evaluates and implements cost reduction activities.</li> <li>Develops scrap and labor costs for cost modeling.</li> <li>Defines, solicits and reviews quotes for tooling and cores.</li> <li>Attends NPI meetings and provides input based on customer specifications for BOM, routings and milestone plans.</li> <li>Defines designs, coordinates construction and validates finished tooling.&nbsp;</li> <li>Collects &amp; analyzes data to appropriately identify, institute, and monitor cost reduction efforts.</li> <li>Collects &amp; analyzes data to appropriately identify, institute, and monitor scrap and rework improvements.</li> <li>Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment.</li> <li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>QualificationsBasic Qualifications<ul> <li>Must be currently enrolled and achieve Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution prior to start date.</li> <li>1 year work experience which can include a co-op or internship.</li> <li>Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.&nbsp;Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.&nbsp;Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.</li> <li>This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul> <li>3 years' work experience in an Engineering role.</li> <li>Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.</li> <li>Effective oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>Efficient analytical and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Working knowledge of computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office products, graphics, and statistical analysis software).</li> <li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.</li> <li>Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.</li> <li>Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.</li> <li>Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.</li> <li>Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.</li> <li>Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
