Position Summary: The certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice nurse who is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum, and newborn patients. Assesses mother’s needs and assists her in plans for care for herself and her infant during the postpartum period, i.e./ hygiene, activity, warning signs, birth control, family support, care and feeding of the baby c. Arranges for follow up care, i.e., 1,2 and/or 6 week postpartum office visit d. Performs 6 week postpartum exam, updating medical/psycho social history and plans for follow up as appropriate 4. Well-woman Gynecology a. Collects historical data and performs annual physical exams b. Offers health teaching, treatment of minor gynecological problems and contraceptive services c.
