Required Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY Supports the Technology Services Department by supervising a team of computer technicians and performing and coordinating complex computer maintenance through effective troubleshooting and repair of computers, peripherals, data communications or computer network systems in classrooms and instructional spaces for the College’s six extended campuses.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under general direction, independently assign and review work of computer technicians who perform complex troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, installation and testing activities, such as designing and fabricating specialized interfaces and communication links. The second trimester concentrates on hardware, windows, MAC, and Linux, storage, networking, mobile devices, system management, implementation and file management utilizing Test-out to prepare students for CompTIA A+ certification. During the last trimester students study satellite fundamentals, residential electrical systems, audio-video, and security-surveillance with practical applications to prepare for SBCA and ETA STS certifications.</li>
<li>Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual student progress; assist with maintaining student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates.</li>
<li>Maintain good public relations with business and industry, assist with advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies.</li>
<li>This position may also supervise and follow up on students participating in cooperative education.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned by the President or Vice President.</li>

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum three (3) years of experience in the Telecommunications field, preferably within the last five (5) years. 
Preferred Qualifications
• Post-secondary Skilled Trades credential from an accredited institution. • Classroom experience and/or appropriate administration experience in delivery of workforce education and training. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude. • Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s). • Must possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adults. • Strong hands-on technical background in the field. • Must possess skills and knowledge to teach the theory and application in all phases of the Telecommunications program. • Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite, working knowledge of network systems, Banner, and D2L.

SUMMARY
The IT Service Center Technician works under the supervision of TBR Service Desk and reports to the VP of Operations at TCAT Shelbyville. The technician is a professional who provides technical support and assistance to students, faculty, and staff at all TCAT Shelbyville locations. They are responsible for installing, configuring, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware, software, and network devices. They also provide training and guidance to users of college technology resources.
*Requires use of state vehicles to travel between all TCAT Shelbyville teaching locations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

<li>Associate degree or diploma from an accredited technical training program applicable to the field and one year of recent and relevant experience, or high school diploma or equivalency and two years of recent and relevant experience.</li>
